January 6th, 2011 - The market is continuing on a firm note in the new year. Rains in Australia followed by heavy floodings, is giving further support to the grain prices. Exports out of the EU continue at a very high pace, and estimated ending stocks will be at a very low level.
The EU is therefore in need of an excellent crop to cover demand and replenish stock levels. The same apllies to Russia and the Ukraine, which saw devastating harvests and imposed export bans to keep local prices stable. During February/March the EU spring crops will be planted. It shall prove important that these plantings are substantial.
